It is so nice to have you visit. There are a lot of photography sites out there, and I definitely know that I am new to the blog world, but I am excited to get started. Over time, I hope to build this site full of useful tutorials, share tips and techniques that I have learned, and have some guest bloggers along the way. I’ll talk about both digital and film, editing and shooting.
My newest class is on white balance at Hello Storyteller called The Color of Light. In October I will be releasing a class on Lightroom, and in 2023 I will be a part of two different collaborations, one on self portraits and one on nature. I’ll even give some sneak peaks here first.
My first love has long been macro, and guess what? I already have a class about that if you’d like to join in. Magic of Macro was released in September 2021 and has been a great success.
I’ve been shooting for over 15 years; I started photography when my children were very small and got my first dSLR, a Canon 30D, in November 2007. By December I was shooting raw and was shooting manual mode. I upgraded to a Canon 5D Mark II in 2009 and I was so excited by shooting on full frame.
In early 2011 I moved to a Nikon D700 and fell in love with photography all over again. I have been a faithful Nikon shooter since. The D700 remains my all time favorite camera, and I still use it occasionally even now. I added a D800 which I used for a number of years, but eventually I moved to the Nikon Z series in a move to mirrorless; I now use a Z6 and Z6ii interchangeably.
In the summer of 2021 I got back to my roots and started shooting film again. Although I was never a “film” shooter as a photographer, I am old enough that film is all that was available to shoot as a kid and young adult. Shooting film has reinvigorated my love of photography, and I love the slowness that it brings to my work. It is truly magical getting scans back from images taken weeks or months ago. I think now I own more film cameras than digital cameras, and I primarily use a Nikon F100, Fujica STX-1, and a Fujica Half. I also have a couple of toy cameras that I’ve used with mixed results.
I am so excited to get started and share some of my knowledge with you and help you increase your skills. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. ❤️
